This was my second Red Carpet Anchoring shift at KOMU 8. Since I was more comfortable with the format, I was able to write my own scripts this time. It taught me that newscasts can be fun and creative. I have been weary of entertainment reporting before, but I think this opportunity offered me a different outlook on life. It was fun!

It's Feb. 8, 2012: the day I find out if I have been selected as the winner of the first Girls' State of the Union Video Contest offered by the Women's Media Center. I am really excited!!! Everything is just falling into place! I tied for second for such an amazing opportunity. Julie Zeilinger, F-Bomb Editor Emily May, Hollaback Executive Director Elizabeth Mendez Berry, Award Winning Journalist Latoya Peterson, PWV Alumna and Racialicious Editor Jasmine Burnett, Trust Black Women Jennifer Pozner, Women In Media & News Shelby Knox, Director or Organizing, Change Sofia Quintero, Chica Luna Productions, Ivy League Homegirl Blogger Lena Chen, The Chicktionary I was selected as one of the six finalists whose Girls' State of the Union video was judged by two famous actresses and a number of women leaders in different media outlets. |
